Places are unstable things. Borders move, neighborhoods transform, landscapes erode. Identity that is rooted in place is rooted in something constantly changing. My work traces parallel instability in the media we choose to represent these places: from photography to film to video to satellite imaging to 3d rendering. Each technology promises fidelity only to deliver transformation. Places change. Representation changes them further. I’m interested in what that means and how it affects our sense of identity.
